Industry Applications

FlexScan3D has been used in the following applications:

Reverse Engineering

Product designers and engineers can quickly and accurately take precise measurements of an object for prototyping.

Quality Inspection

The scanner’s ability to capture complex shapes with precision makes it an ideal solution for quality control.

Creating Customized Products

Provides precise body measurements to create customize products such as gloves, cast, prosthetics, orthotics, and face masks.

Archiving

Capture the measurements of an object without causing disturbance to the original.

Replication

Reproduce objects in smaller/larger scales simply by taking measurements of the object.

3D Modeling

Ability to recreate physical objects and humans in 3D form makes it an attractive option for gaming, animation, and the entertainment industry for CGI.

3D Foot Scanning Technology for Custom Orthotics

We’re really excited about how 3D3 Solutions 3D scanning technology will change the manufacturing process of custom orthotics.

Paul Smith
President, Rx Orthotic Lab

3D3 Solutions partnered with Rx Orthotic Lab to create a concrete solution to foot casting that combines 3D scanning technology with advanced medical theory. The foot scanner uses 3D3 Solutions’ proprietary white-light 3D technology, FlexScan3D, that scans the patient’s foot in seconds to create a digital reproduction in the form a 3D model. 3D3 Solutions developed a custom mounting solution and a corporate branded user interface that worked directly with FlexScan3D for 3D capture.

Automated Low Cost 3D Scanning

Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) uses FlexScan3D Software for applications including quality inspection and industrial manufacturing.

The above presentation was presented at RAPID 2010 on the topic "Low Cost Automated 3D Scanning". The uses of 3D imaging are extending rapidly to many industries that are leveraging the power of 3D software to greatly enhance their products. While 3D scanning technologies have typically been available as high-end industrial systems that are expensive and limited to specific objects they can scan, small and medium businesses need an affordable 3D scanning solution they can use in their manufacturing processes.
