Welcome to the August edition of 3D3 Solutions E-Newsletter. This month we're featuring news from the academic field, article discussing factors you should consider when looking for a 3D scanner, and new 3D scan samples from our gallery. Innovative Academic Research Project: Automated 3D Modeling of Building InteriorsIt is fascinating to see different scanning applications, especially research projects from colleges and universities. Students at UC Berkeley developed a laser scanner that can be carried as a backpack to create a 3D panorama model of the environment instantaneously. The use of this scanner can be helpful in training and simulation for disaster management, virtual museums, and historical sites documentation. Here is a video from ABC 7 News that explains more about this technology: The Future of 3D PrintingThis is a great presentation from Scott Summit who presented at Singularity University on how to be creative using 3D scanning, parametrics and digital fabrication. The lecture really gets your creative juices going and is very inspiring for all designers out there.
