Industry Applications
The use of 3D imaging has become increasingly common in various industries. Here is a sample of case studies where our 3D scanners have been particularly helpful for our clients’ applications. Customers can expect similar results when using our 3D scanners in everyday scenarios. The scan sample data haven’t been touched up. The average point-scanning time took less than 6 seconds.
Manufacturing
Efficiency and quality is especially important in the area of reverse engineering and quality inspection.
Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineering refers to the process of analyzing the construction of a product in order to develop a similar or improved product/design. With the use of a 3D scanner, product designers and engineers can quickly and accurately reproduce a 3D model and take precise measurements of an object. Industrial parts that are no longer in production can also use 3D scanning to capture the information needed for reproduction.
Quality Inspection
3D scanner’s ability to capture complex shapes with precision makes it an ideal solution for quality control (ie. The accuracy of our 3D scanners is up to 50 micron).
Medical
For medical practitioners, diagnosis is very important for treating patients. 3D scanning provides the vital information necessary to assess the patient's situation in order to provide the correct remedy.
Creating Customized Solutions for Patients
Foot Scanning: Traditionally, customers would have to visit a podiatrist and go through a long and intensive molding process to get a pair of plaster insoles made. This often yields inaccurate results. The process of manufacturing custom orthotics using 3D scanners is more efficient. With the use of a foot scanner, foot measurements can be taken in seconds and results can be analyzed immediately.
Data from the foot scan can be used to manufacture custom orthotics based on the patient's foot shape.
Dental Scanning: Similar to the orthotics industry, 3D scanning replaces the need to create physical dental molds for patients. The 3D scanning process makes it faster and easier in capturing measurements for dental reconstruction such as the creation of braces, retainers, and mouth guards.
Face and Body Scanning: Taking face/body measurements can be difficult because people cannot stay still for a long time. Our 3D scanners have a fast scan time of 1 to 6 seconds which reduces the likelihood that subjects will move during the scanning process. Unlike laser scanners, our 3D scanners use white-light technology that is safe for people, even to the naked eye.

Scanning a hand in 3D provides the measurements to create a pair of perfectly fitted gloves. Notice the 3D scanner takes even the smallest detail including skin texture.
Arts and Archaelogy
Industries similar to the arts and archaeology can use 3D scanners for archival and reproduction purposes.
Archiving
A common thread between arts and archaeology is that they deal with preservation of objects such as sculptures and fossils. 3D scanning can capture the measurements of an object without causing disturbance to the original.
Replication
Artists and archaeologists can reproduce objects in smaller/larger scales simply by taking 3D measurements of the object and reducing/enlarging the measurements accordingly.
Entertainment
3D Modeling
3D scanners' ability to recreate physical objects and humans in 3D form makes it an attractive option for gaming, animation, and the entertainment industry for CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery). Gentle Giant Studios is one of our clients that uses our 3D scanning technology for the entertainment industry.

Others
There are many industries that still need to unlock the potential of 3D scanning. Here are some scans that reveal the capabilities of 3D imaging.
