Minimally, a digital SLR camera and off-the-shelf projector will enable fast, and accurate 3D scans.

A projector or laser puts reference patterns on to the scan target to aid accurate digitalization. The shape and color is captured using a camera or video camera. The process to acquire the data needed to create a 3D model is completed in seconds.

The surfaced 3D model is used in industrial design, reverse engineering, visual effects and game industries. Automated 3D capture drastically reduces the time and cost in creating 3D compared to traditional methods.

Our approach changes the 3D scanning landscape because we don't lock you in to expensive and proprietary hardware systems. Our software will work with a variety of off the shelf electronic components to capture 3D data, giving you complete flexibility to meet any scanning challenge.

Why FlexScan3D

We built FlexScan3D because we needed a 3D scanning system for our own projects where traditional methods were not possible or cost effective.  We found nothing that was flexible enough to scan tough subjects from human faces to coins to boats. We wanted a single solution that drove both light based and laser based scanning. It would also understand and manage our motion control devices and automate our workflow.

It also had be cost effective and have a decent feature set and accuracy that was needed for serious work. The only option was breaking the bank and buying a expensive scanner for every scenario.  Since we're not so good at breaking banks, FlexScan3D was born. We love using it and would love to share it with you.

Most 3D scanners consists of cameras and light projection.  Many proprietary systems, come as a single unified unit, that work under limited parameters.  The real world usually doesn't work that way, you need to capture objects with a wide range of shapes and sizes, without having to spend money on a new system every time a new requirement comes up.  Because FlexScan3D is mostly hardware independent, you can be customize the scanner to meet your needs.

The system can also be setup with fixed mountings or free form mountings depending on how mobile you need to be.
