FlexScan with Windows 7 (64-bit)

With the release of Windows 7 coinciding closely with IDS releasing 64-bit drivers for the uEye cameras, a lot of users are upgrading to 64-bit Windows 7 and want to know how to get FlexScan3D to work.

Because of some changes with the new installer offered by IDS, installing on 64-bit Windows 7 is non-trivial, but we have found a procedure which works well for our customers using USB uEye cameras.

1. Start by installing the 64-bit Software Package from http://www.ids-imaging.com/drivers.php?cat=2&changeLang=e
2. Ensure that the uEye Camera Manager can see and connect to your uEye cameras ( if it can't at this point, stop and troubleshoot )
3. Download the 32-bit 3.33 uEye drivers (which we have conveniently kept a copy of at http://www.3d3solutions.com/users2/uEye_333.zip)
4. Unzip and install the 32-bit drivers. At this point, your cameras will cease functioning because Windows has given priority to the (non-functional) 32-bit drivers.
5. To verify that the 32-bit drivers installed correctly, run FlexScan and attempt to connect to a uEye camera. You should be able to get to the window which shows the uEye logo, but no cameras will be found.
6. Re-install the 64-bit drivers to supercede the 32-bit ones for functional purposes. At this point, some users may experience a loss of network connectivity. Simply go into your Network Adapter settings and disable the uEye Gigabit Drivers
( Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings [on the left] > Local Area Connection > Properties )
7. You should now be able to use the uEye cameras successfully in FlexScan 3D.

We apologize for the complicated procedure that this produces, and are working on putting out a new release shortly which will provide updated functionality for the new 64-bit drivers.
